2008 Battle of Flowers Oratorical Contest

The Battle of Flowers Oratorical Contest is a platform speech contest open to undergraduate and graduate students who attend Texas colleges and universities. The first twelve eligible entries are accepted. Monetary prizes of $2000, $1000, $750, $500 and $300 are awarded to the first through fifth place winners.

During Fiesta Week, the winner will deliver the winning speech at the annual Battle of Flowers Association Luncheon, and will be invited to ride in the Battle of Flowers Parade the following day. The speech will be taped and broadcast by KLRN TV.  Copies of the top three winning speeches will be given to the Institute of Texan Cultures Library, the Daughters of the

The Battle of Flowers Essay Contest is open to all Bexar County seventh-grade students.  First-place winners from each school receive certificates.  The overall first-place winner is invited to ride in the Battle of Flowers Parade.  Overall first, second and third-place winners receive plaques.
